Student Leadership

At LRCS we value student voice and are committed to open decision-making structures and encourage active student participation in this.

Students at LRCS are represented by the elected Student Representative Council (SRC) and elected House Leaders of which both groups have different roles.

The role of the SRC is to take into account of the views and needs of students in regard to all matters, regularly report to all students about their activities and ask students of their concerns. The SRC has input into all areas of school life with the view of making the school a better learning place for students. Fundraising is also an important role the SRC undertake. There is also a requirement for the elected SRC President to report to Governing Council twice per term.

The SRC consists of 10 elected members from years 3 to 12.

Two from years 3 / 4; Two from years 5 / 6; Three from years 7, 8, 9 and Three from years 10, 11 and 12. The executive positions of President, Secretary, Treasurer and Publicity Officer will be elected from within.

House Leaders at LRCS are responsible to take account of the views and needs of students in regard to all matters regarding ‘House Competitions’ and Events. They actively participate with the organisation and running of carnivals, PE week activities or other sporting programmes, such as lunchtime ‘Navy vs Maroon’ sporting activities for the House Trophy.

Two female and two male students from years 7 to 12 are elected from each house: Navy and Maroon. Elections are conducted by each ‘House’ where one male and one female will be ‘House Leader’ and one male and one female will be ‘Deputy’ in each house. Seniority of students takes precedence for the ‘House Leader’ role.
